Top 500: 43. The Dark Side of the Moon

Another one that I really had no big revelation about, been listening and enjoying this for as long as I can remember. Actually that isn't quite true, I do remember the first time that I heard this album...doesn't everybody? It was like being transported to another planet and I wasn't even on anything at the time. It's amazing that this didn't chart higher, it is without question one of the most perfect albums ever recorded. From beginning to end. Every noise, every sound is in the perfect spot. From the background chatter to Clare Tory's soaring vocals on The Great Gig in the Sky there is never a bad moment. The band hit the apex of using a musique concrete format, that in my opinion no one has matched.

I could probably write a book on just this one album, but most of it has been said before and I am really trying to keep this focused on my own musical growth here so I will stop here.
