Top 500: 42. The Doors

There was no real moment of revelation here. I have been a fan of this album for a very long time. The Doors are at their best on this first album. It is one of the best first albums ever. A totally original sound that came out of LA, and gave everyone something new to think about, musically. They kinda did their own thing. I am not sure that anyone really tried to copy them, at least no that was very successful at it, which is probably a good thing. I don't think that we really need more than one Doors. The last track, The End, is so dark and depressing that it could change my mood and I would have a hard time getting it back up. I remember listening to the album when I was younger and stopping before The End because I just couldn't handle it.
