The Session Fee

If you've never worked with a professional photographer before, you may find yourself asking, "what exactly is a session fee? and what does it pay for?".

What is a session fee?

The short answer is the fee that a photographer charges for the service of taking your picture.  Of course, there's more to taking a photo than simply pointing a camera at something and pushing the button. Essentially, you're commissioning a professional to share their knowledge, experience and use of equipment to create an heirloom art piece only for you.

What does my session fee pay for?

 For some photographers, your session is pretty basic; just meeting you in a park, a no frills option that works for many clients.  For clients with a higher expectation and need, try a session with J&S.  Our sessions include a wide range of services that are way beyond basic!

The Premier Session $275

This is our most involved session for clients with the highest expectations.  Our Premier Session is three hours of photography with a certified photographer and includes the following...

  • in-home consultation
  • three locations
  • a photographer and an assistant
  • 2nd assistant (when needed)
  • use of props
  • in-home wardrobe styling
  • in-studio viewing and design session

The Simple Session $125

This is a 60-90 minute portrait session with a certified photographer.  Our Simple Session includes the following...

  • phone consultation
  • on-location or studio shoot
  • a photographer and an assistant
  • use of props
  • wardrobe styling
  • in-studio viewing and design session

Special Event Sessions $50-$75

This is a 15-20 minute portrait session that is planned during an event and usually photographed by an apprentice.  We put a lot of time into making these events fun, family experiences where you get great photos at an excellent price.  Please see our events page to book your session.
